A Little Bit of Praise Can Silence the Devil: Day 87

Kenzie and Gentry at FCA :-)
Today was a pretty good day! School wasn’t too bad and work went by pretty quick. I finished Dear John and was disappointed in the ending but it was still an awesome book. After, I got ready and headed to Victory Life to FCA. You may be wondering what the title of my post it but it is actually something I learned last night. After singing worship at FCA someone said that we shouldn’t worry about others think about how we worship because we should do what our heart thinks is pleasing to God. You shouldn’t worry about what others might think if you raise your hand, the way you sing, or if you close your eyes while you sing. If you are praising God then that is all that matters. This person was saying that a small about of praise is strong enough to silence the devil. It is amazing how much power a song can have. I really realized a lot because I do worry a lot what others might think when I should only worry about what is pleasing to God. Then this is where the message comes in and it was so eye opening. Self image was the main topic, and we talked about how much we pick apart ourselves and we follow the “trend” of what celebrities and magazines are telling us what to wear, how to act, and how we should look like. Yes, I am full out guilty because I am constantly reminding myself that I would like to lose weight or buy those new Miss Me jeans or have the hottest pair of shoes and it would make me happier. It isn’t that I just focus on wants and needs but a lot of the time those material things grab my attention more than my relationship with Christ should. God tells us that we shouldn’t worry about those small things. Ten years down the road you will be looking back saying “Why in the world did I wear that?” Fashion fades but your relationship with Christ never should. Fitting in the so called “popular” crowd, being an athlete, having a lot of money, or being class president doesn’t matter to God. I mean everything in your life matters to him but it is the way we serve Him and show how much we love and appreciate Him is what really matters most. As Christians we are called to be a reflection of Christ in our lives to reach out to others, not reach out to the magazine rack, look in the mirror, and pick apart the way He created us. What an impact a thirty minute message can have! Sometimes you just need a reminder to realize how blessed you really are.

Trust: Giving God the Pen

With a lot of the events that have taken place in my life lately, yes if you are wondering, "love life,” I feel like this is an issue I have a lot of trouble dealing with. Sometimes it seems like I can never let go of something I have held onto for so long even if I want to. People change. Sometimes for the good, but other times for the bad. Right now all I can see is bad. I'm really guilty of being pessimistic instead of looking at the glass half full. I wish I could trust people but sometimes I feel like I am the only person I can or will ever be able to rely on. Like am I ever going to meet my Prince Charming, or am I going to be single for the rest of my life? Then something hits me. God. Wow the most important person in my life who has never failed me and i'm down here complaining and worrying about people who obviously could care less about my feelings or heart. I've realized you have to give God the pen. I've been reading on and off, really just need to finish it, this book called, When God Writes Your Love Story, by Eric and Leslie Ludy. They have to have the most intimate, religious, fun, energetic, spontaneous relationship with God and not to mention their marriage. Reading this book has totally opened my eyes and has changed my outlook on relationships. I need to get mine right and steady with God before I ever start one with another person. All together I have learned I can TRUST my Lord and Savior and that is all that matters. This book is a must read and i really encourage you to purchase it! xoxo Kenzie
